Safe Tagg

AMA200-A

RFID EAS (radio frequency identification electronic article surveillance) is a security system used to prevent theft and unauthorized removal of items from retail stores and other commercial establishments.

The key components of a RFID EAS system are:

  • RFID tags/labels:

These are small, inexpensive radio frequency identification tags that are attached to items in the store. They contain a unique code that is used to identify the item.

  • RFID tag detectors:

These are devices installed at the exits of the store that can detect the presence of RFID tags as customers leave the store. They are typically installed in the doorways or gates.

  • Deactivation/removal

devices: when a customer purchases an item, the RFID tag is either deactivated or physically removed at the point-of-sale to prevent the alarms from being triggered when the customer leaves the store.

The way the system works is:

– when an item with an active RFID tag passes through the detection zones at the exits, the RFID tag detector senses the tag and triggers an alarm, alerting staff that an item is being removed without authorization.

– this deters shoplifting and unauthorized removal of items from the store.

– the RFID tags can be deactivated or removed at the checkout so that legitimate purchases can leave the store without triggering the alarms.

RFID EAS systems provide a more advanced and automated theft prevention solution compared to traditional security systems like barcodes and security tags.

They offer benefits like improved inventory management and reduced false alarms.
